Website Monitoring
With all the recent work we've been doing to our Stock Control System websites, its easy to forget that you need to monitor the changes and the effects of modifications etc.
Most webhosts provide statistics for your website, but unfortunately, ours doesn't!
So, we turned to a third party website statistic program, namely StatCounter.
StatCounter provides us with all the information we need and information we didn't know we needed, like visitor paths, visitor activity, IP addresses, visit lengths and much much more.
It allows us to monitor where visitors came from, from which referer they came through and how long they stayed and which pages interested them the most.
This helps to give us feedback on which pages seemed to be popular and those pages which were not, and so we can address the issues of making certain pages more prevalent to access, or follow a good format and apply it to other pages.
Now we are hitting on most of the major search engines in the top results, I don't have to check our SERPs every day, but I like to check the stats every morning to see how visitors are using our site.
Statistics help to make your site better, helps you address problem areas and should be an important part of any website marketing strategy.
StatCounter, it's free, and it works!
